Eventgoers have difficulty finding basic amenities like water even though they're available at every hub. In addition, their perception of CicLAvia is that it is a cyclists-only event, but CicLAvia's mission is to include everyone in all modes of transportation.
We discovered that both of our solutions unintentionally turned into selfie spots for people to take pictures in front of and share on social media. People have a need to capture themselves in front of places that add context to the photo.
We developed two solutions. The first is a modular sign with an interactive crank that communicates the locations of amenities. The second is a community wall at the Exposition Park hub during the South Central CicLAvia to foster connections among attendees.
We were tasked to Improve the event-goer experience at CicLAvia by fostering connection and encouraging participants to explore all event day activities.
