The reimagined media collection of the Library Foundation of Los Angeles.
Discover VOICES ALOUD, the Los Angeles Library Foundation's redesigned platform for exploring their digital media collection. Solutions include enhanced organization, intuitive navigation, and powerful search tools for a seamless user experience.
The Library Foundation's ALOUD Archives is a vast collection of digital media that lacks proper organization and tagging, making it difficult to search and largely inaccessible to users.
To truly engage users, the ALOUD Archives needs both contextualization and robust search and discovery options.
An automated tagging system, redesigned website sections, and enhanced search and discovery features to improve the accessibility and organization of audio content.

An autonomous vehicle rideshare service, that brings families closer through an interactive AR game
Gozo: Transforming Rides into Connection Under the guidance of BMW Designworks, my team set out to reimagine the future of autonomous rideshare through the lens of family connection. We created Gozo, an AV service that strengthens bonds between parents and children through Gozo Trivia, an interactive AR game triggered by real-world landmarks. Inspired by formats like Cash Cab and I-Spy, our experience combines storytelling, play, and emerging AR tech to make car rides collaborative and memorable. We followed a human-centered design process that included interviews with single parents, competitive analysis, prototyping, and usability testing. Our insights led us to design a phone-free environment that encourages presence, a customizable console for in-car interaction, and Rewind the Ride, a post-ride feature that helps families relive meaningful shared experiences. By transforming passive commutes into active engagement, Gozo shows how autonomous vehicles can do more than transport—they can foster connection, presence, and psychological safety for the families riding inside.
In this project, we focused on the problem of disconnection within busy families—especially single-parent households where quality time is scarce. Our research revealed that although 73% of U.S. adults say family time is a top priority, families typically spend only 53 minutes of quality time together each day, with single-parent families facing an even greater gap. Existing autonomous rideshare services like Waymo and Uber prioritize speed and convenience, but neglect the emotional and relational aspects of shared travel. We saw an opportunity to reimagine AV rides as moments for connection rather than isolation. One major challenge was integrating emerging AR technology in a way that felt intuitive, accessible, and safe for both children and adults. Through iterative prototyping and usability testing, we fine-tuned gameplay, interface design, and content pacing. Our final concept, Gozo, transforms passive commutes into playful, shared experiences that spark curiosity, encourage conversation, and strengthen family bonds.
Our design process for Gozo followed a human-centered approach rooted in research, testing, and iteration. We began with secondary research, investigating trends in family dynamics, mobility, and AR technology. This revealed a growing disconnect between the value families place on quality time and the reality of how little of it they get—especially in single-parent households. We then created detailed personas, including Mia and Farah, to ground our decisions in the needs of real users. We followed up with user interviews to hear directly from parents about the stress of daily commutes and their desire for meaningful interactions with their children. From these insights, we developed journey maps to visualize pain points and emotional highs/lows throughout a typical rideshare experience. Using this foundation, we produced low- and mid-fidelity prototypes, iterating on features like our AR trivia game, onboarding flow, and post-ride recap. Through usability testing, we refined the interface to ensure ease of use, engagement, and inclusivity across ages.
Our solution was Gozo, an autonomous rideshare experience designed to strengthen family connection during everyday commutes. At the heart of Gozo is Gozo Trivia—a collaborative, augmented reality game that transforms car windows into interactive screens. As the vehicle passes real-world landmarks, location-aware technology triggers route-specific trivia questions, encouraging passengers to work together, spark conversations, and share laughter. Inspired by experiences like Cash Cab and I-Spy, the game supports different difficulty levels and hint options to ensure accessibility across ages. To promote presence and reduce distractions, Gozo begins with an onboarding flow that encourages passengers to store their phones in a secure, UV-sanitizing console with built-in charging. The same console allows families to personalize their ride, select games, and view route maps. After the ride, Rewind the Ride captures shared moments through photo prompts and trivia highlights, helping families relive and reflect on their time together. Altogether, Gozo reimagines autonomous travel as a joyful, bonding experience.
