The BFF: A MaCher Collaboration

Project Description
An eco-friendly luggage tag made from upcycled billboard materials, The BFF can be worn as a crossbody bag, bringing it out of the closet and onto the streets. Its digital companion feature allows for the sharing of memories, creating a digital heirloom that can be passed down as you wish.

Problem
How can we take a simple luggage tag and craft it in a way that makes it truly circular so that it has a life beyond the closet and incorporating a digital component?

Insights
The team found that durability was a major hurdle. It needed to be something that is resilient to the demands of travel but then also be aesthetically pleasing. We also found that we needed a way to answer the needs of the business and how to increase customer engagement and increase perceived value.

Solutions
A three-in-one luggage strap made of up-cycled billboard called the BFF. It can be split into two luggage straps for you and a bestie. Also, with its built in pocket, you can take it off luggage and wear it as a cross body bag for carrying your things. Making great from travel but also great for when you need a small bag at home. The BFF also includes an NFC chip for linking you to it digital companion: a photo album filled with images from your journeys. Part of the experience is having the option to pass on the BFF to your BFF, so they can contribute to the album. That way it could contain a lifetime of memories from all over the world.
