CicLAvia's Interactive Map

Project Description

A mobile-first, easy-to-use interactive map that helps event-goers navigate and better explore their city, along with an informative list of restaurants, shops, and points of interest on the route.

Problem

Upwards of 100,000 participants attend CicLAvia events, with participants coming from across the county to explore a new part of the city. However, CicLAvia’s current interactive map is hard to use and overwhelming to look at, especially on mobile. How can we help CicLAvia event-goers quickly access information in digital spaces and promote city exploration?

Insights

Mobile experiences need to be prioritized when working with non-profit organizations. A survey has shown that over 60% of CicLAvia participants have been there more than once, but 80% have never used the current Ciclavia digital map. Many people at the CicLAvia event needed a map and directions. Finally, over 90% of people were interested in seeing a list of businesses along the route.

Solutions

CicLAvia's Interactive Map is a mobile-first digital map built on Proxi, a mapping platform that is easy to build and customize, and completely free for non-profits. The new Interactive Map helps event-goers effortlessly navigate and better explore their city. In addition to that, the solution includes Spots Along the Route — a list of points of interest, shops, and restaurants including a description and filter options.
