For the students

What should I do to prepare for a digital class?
- Find a stable internet connection. (See above)
- Use headphones to lock focus on the class.
- Minimize or hide your video so that you don’t distract yourself with yourself. How to Hide your own video
Digital classroom etiquette:
- Use a stable camera. It helps others know they’re with other people and gives some non-verbal communication that we need to feel heard.
- Mute your microphone when not speaking. If you don’t have a microphone, use the chat box.
- Find a low distraction background. Keep a static background behind you like a wall or empty room to prevent distracting your classmates
- Use hand signals. Hand Knocking: I agree/I feel similarly/hear, hear to the speaker.Forming a C with one hand: I would like to ask a clarifying question on the topic currently being discussed.Hand raise or post in the chat box for questions that move from the current topic.
Tools to Remove Distractions
- Mac OS X: turn on Do Not Disturb. Muzzle automatically turns on Do Not Disturb when screen sharing apps start
- Windows: Turn off Notifications on PC
- Phones: if you’re not joining the class on your phone, mute it or turn it off. Pretend as if you were in the classroom.
